CHC Helicopter's Irish search-and-rescue operation has reached the milestone of 10,000 Sikorsky S-92 flight hr. Operating from the company's bases in Sligo, Waterford, Shannon and Dublin since 2012, CHC has been serving Ireland on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard. Its five new S-92s have completed more than 3,100 missions.
Peter O'Hagan, base manager for CHC's Irish operation, said the unit has completed high-profile missions, including the rescue of mariners mile out at sea and ill people who had been stranded in remote locations. With the introduction of the S-92, CHC ushered in a step change in operational effectiveness and flight safety. The fleet is equipped with autopilot functions, auto hover and flight director upgrades.
