Icelandair Adds More Planes to Firm 737 MAX Order
Boeing announced a firm order Wednesday from Icelandair for 16 737 MAX aircraft, worth $1.6 billion at current list prices.
Icelandair originally placed an order for 12 planes in December that included purchase rights for an additional 12 planes. The airline converted four of those purchase rights to firm orders, three 737-9s and a 737-8.
"The 737 MAX will complement our Boeing 757 operations seamlessly and allow us to continue our route expansion in the most fuel-efficient manner," said Bjorgolfur Johannsson, president and CEO of Icelandair Group.
The first delivery to Icelandair is scheduled for the first half of 2018.
