U.S. Army seeks microUAS to extend squad awareness
The U.S. Army is taking development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into new domains, specifically, pocket-portable microplatforms that will extend situational awareness at the squad level. Work is underway to develop a microsized Soldier-Borne Sensor (SBS) that could be fielded in limited quantities in the next year or two and more widely during fiscal 2018. Prototypes are being tested.
