New Airbus Helicopters Training Academy Opens in Germany
Airbus Helicopters has opened a new training facility next to the company’s product development and production facility in Donauwörth, Germany. The Training Academy has two full-flight simulators for the product family of the H135 and the H145 rotorcraft, along with full scale Maintenance Training Devices that provide technicians with hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair and inspection of these two aircraft types. Succeeding the previous academy – which was situated on the grounds of Airbus Helicopters’ Donauwörth industrial site, training some 800 technicians and 300 pilots annually – the new center provides expanded capabilities and easier accessibility with its independent location. In addition to the two flight simulators and six Maintenance Training Devices for these helicopters, the newly-built academy has 19 classrooms, multiple workshops and a dedicated canteen for customers. Capacity exists for future expansion, including the ability to install another flight simulator and two more Maintenance Training Devices.
