Helikopter - US Army på utkikk etter erstatning for Hueys - R&W

USAF: Huey Successor Up For Discussion

By Staff Writer | August 18, 2015

The U.S. Air Force invites aircraft manufacturers for a discussion about replacing its more than 40-year-old fleet of UH-1N Iroquois "Hueys." At an industry day scheduled for Aug. 26 and 27, the service will educate potential vendors about the capabilities it wants in a successor to the light-lift utility UH-1N, a military variant of the Bell Helicopter 212. Among the expected requirements are up-to-date technology, such as digital avionics displays and navigational tools for use in adverse weather conditions. Potential replacement options include the modification of the existing fleet, a sole-source award for a new aircraft or an open competition for a new platform. Following the industry day, the service will release a capabilities request for information on potential solutions and sources to provide aircraft meeting program requirements. The service is planning to procure up to 72 replacement aircraft overall. Final award of a contract is not expected until fiscal year 2017.
