Gear collapse B734 - Curt Lewis

 

Accident: Caspian B734 at Isfahan on Jan 5th 2022, main gear collapse on landing

A Caspian Airlines Boeing 737-400, registration EP-CAP performing flight RV-6904 from Mashad to Isfahan (Iran) with 110 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Isfahan's runway 07R at 17:07L (13:37Z) but suffered the collapse of the left hand main gear almost immediately after touch down. The aircraft veered right off the runway and came to a stop with the nose gear off the runway edge, right main gear and left engine pod still on the runway surface. The aircraft was evacuated via slides. 3 female passengers received minor injuries as result of the evacuation, 2 male passengers received serious injuries as result of the evacuation (leg fractures).

Narrative:
Caspian Airlines flight 6904, a Boeing 737-4H6, sustained substantial damage when the left-hand main gear collapsed on landing at Isfahan-Shahid Beheshti Airport (IFN/OIFM), Iran. Five passengers were injured as a result of the evacuation.

Preliminary information indicates the aircraft landed but suffered the collapse of the left-hand main gear almost immediately after touch down. The aircraft veered right and came to a stop on the side of the runway.
