law, the US Secret Service provides former vice-presidents and their
families six months of protection after their terms end - but this
period can be extended. Former President Joe Biden reportedly did this
for Harris before leaving office, offering her a year's extension. Trump revoked the order
in a memo due to come into effect on 1 September. The move has already
caused controversy, with California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los
Angeles Mayor Karen Bass calling it politically motivated, reports Bernd Debusmann Jr. |
