TOP OF THE AGENDA | Cook to sue Trump over removal order |

Trump has accused Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook of committing
mortgage fraud and ordered her removal. She announced plans to sue him,
arguing he does not have the authority to fire her.
In her role, Cook is part of the committee that decides the level of interest rates, which Trump has long been criticising as too high. Presidential spats with the Fed - an independent body - are not unusual. But Trump, writes Michelle Fleury,
is seeking to replace the board with people who share his political
outlook - and that has got economists and investors on edge. |
