Narrative:
An American Airlines Boeing 767 operating as Flight AAL383 to Miami International Airport in Florida experienced an apparent uncontained failure of the right hand CF-6 engine (some early reports suggested a tyre failure) and subsequent fire during the takeoff roll at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The aircraft sustained extensive fire damage. Eight of the safely evacuated 170 passengers and crew onboard received minor injuries. |
