Bristow Upgrades S-92s, S-76s with Rockwell Collins TCAS
Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Rockwell Collins is installing its TCAS II traffic alert and collision avoidance system in a total of 44 Sikorsky S-76C++ and S-92A helicopters under a contract with Bristow Group. Rockwell Collins has equipped 24 Bristow helicopters through mid-June.
During the second half of 2013 and the first half of 2014, 20 Bristow aircraft will receive the avionics maker’s TTR-4100, which allows automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) capability. Rockwell Collins’ partnership with Bristow Group dates back to 2008, when the two organizations teamed to certify and “ruggedize” TCAS II for helicopters.
