The Asia-Pacific airline signed the leasing agreement with Danish leasing firm Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). Garuda's order includes 25 firm aircraft and options for 10 additional 72-600s.

ATR will begin delivering the regional turboprops in November 2013, the European manufacturer said Tuesday. The 72-600s will be configured with 70 seats, powered by Pratt & Whitney 127M engines. The aircraft will be equipped with ATR's Armonia cabin, introduced in 2012 with new in-flight entertainment (IFE) and cabin management systems (CMS).

"South East Asia is definitely providing us with huge leasing potential and the ATR 72-600s perfectly match the requirements for short-haul travel in terms of low operating costs, comfort and ability to operate in small airfields and remote areas," said  Martin Moller, chairman of NAC. The aircraft leasing firm placed an order for 90 ATR 600 series aircraft at the Paris Airshow.
