The South Korean Army has appointed its first female helicopter instructor pilot, local news outlets report. Since earning her wings in 2006, Warrant Officer Jung Eun-hee has flown Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawks in operations including combat, medevac and firefighting.
In 1999, Jung enlisted in the Army and became an air traffic controller. Five years later, she was accepted into the pilot training program. As an instructor pilot, she will be responsible for education, training and evaluation. Only those with more than 200 flight hours are in contention to become instructors. Jung has wracked up around 1,500 flight hours in her career.
