Online retailer Amazon is seeking exemptions from FAA to operate its Prime Air drone delivery service as an air carrier under the agency’s Part 135 regulation. In a notice published in the Federal Register Aug. 8, Amazon seeks relief from the requirement that a civil aircraft used for commerce have an airworthiness certificate as well as from other provisions to permit its Prime Air delivery service to operate as a Part 135 air carrier using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
