Norwegian flight DY7115, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, returned to land to Rome's Fiumicino Airport in Italy after suffering an engine failure.
The aircraft took off from runway 16 at 14:45 UTC. Shortly afterward one of the RR Trent 1000 engines suffered a failure, causing debris to be ejected from the engine. There were no injuries on the ground but some cars suffered slight damage to the windows. The area most affected is that between Fiumicino and the Isola Sacra neighborhood, in particular, the area around Via Mariotti, located 2 km from the end of the runway.
From an initial assessment, 25 cars and 12 homes suffered minor damage.
