NAWSARH REQUIREMENTS OF September 2005
Capacity Requirement:
The helicopter shall, have the capacity to hoist 25 survivors at 240 NM, return to base and land with 30 min. fuel reserve (SL ISA, crew of 6, 150 kgs SAR equipment).
The helicopter should (1), have the capacity to hoist 25 survivors at 300 NM, return to base and land with 30. min. fuel reserve (SL ISA, crew of 6, 150 kgs SAR equipment).
The helicopter should (1) have the capacity to hoist 10 survivors at 385 NM, return to base and land with 30 min. fuel reserve (SL ISA, crew of 6, 150 kgs SAR equipment)
The helicopter should (2) be able to carry 3000 kgs external load over a distance of 100 kms.
Is this possible considering the fact that the purpose built SAR version
fall short ot these requirments? Of course not……. Consider…..
….that ESA`s statement in their letter of 18. July 2006:
”….that
the option remains the same as that included in the original signed in 2001 and
to which case 3028 is referred:”
is correct.
However, it falls dramatically short of
the requirements requested by the expert group Helikopterfaglig Forum and those
found under para. 4.3.1. of the NAWSARH document of September 2005. Hence, the
…….equipment which must be
added to the pure SAR version:- Rear Loading Ramp with associated hydraulic and electrical equipment
- Rotorblade folding mechanism
- Tail folding mechanism
- Harpoon with associated equipment
- Enlarged sponson tank installation
- Tactical multipurpose radar
- Tactical control system
- Mission computor
- EWS
- Crypto equipment
- 1 VHF set
- Super inflated landing gear system
- Hydraulics for sonar system
- Steerable nose landing gear
- Armour for pilots` seats
- Fast rope equipment
- Mountings for guns
- Helmet Mounted Sights and Display
Hence, the NAWSARH version of 2005 will look very much like the 7660 (NSHP)version of 2001 which falls into a category which is unsuitable as a SAR helicopter. This means……….

Is a hoax!
Radius of Action calculated by the Brukerutvalget concluded with a ROA of from 40 to 66NM.
