A Royal Malaysian Air Force plane was seen
sliding across an airport runway after it lost control following an emergency
landing.
According to the Air Force, the Beechcraft B200T aircraft was carrying out flight training and took off from
the Subang Air Base on October 16, 2023, shortly before 11.30 am local time.
However, the aircraft was forced to
initiate an emergency landing at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) at around
1 pm.
Footage of the incident recorded at the
airport shows the Beechcraft sliding along the runway to the sound of emergency
sirens with its left wing on the floor before it crosses onto a grassy area
where it eventually stops.
The aircraft was from the No 16 squadron
and carrying four crew members at the time.
“All crew members are safe and uninjured.
The Royal Malaysian Air Force will establish an investigation team to identify
the cause of the incident,” the Air Force said.
Following the incident, the runway was
closed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) at the request of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
“The runway is being closed to facilitate the removal procedure for a skidded
aircraft. Glad to share that no one was injured during the incident,” the
airport wrote on social media.
At 6 pm local time, it was confirmed that
the airport runway had reopened.
