An A321, previously used by UK government, performed an emergency landing with several windows missing
A Titan Airways returned to London Stansted after the crew noticed something
wrong.
On October 4th, 2023 an Airbus A321neo
took off from runway 22 at London Stansted.
While climbing to 15,000 ft, the crew
noticed excessive noise in the cabin and immediately stopped the climb.
The Titan Airways aircraft (reg. G-OATW) was on on ferry flight #AWC105Y to Orlando, FL, USA.
The crew maintained
9,000 ft and requested an emergency landing.
The planed landed back at London
Stansted 39 minutes after takeoff.
According to The
Aviation Herald,
post-landing checks showed three cabin windows missing as well as substantial
impact damage to the left stabilizer
The occurrence was rated an accident and
is being investigated by the AAIB.
The aircraft was previously at Southend
for maintenance repair after being used for VIP flights on behalf of the
British government.
