NASA Tests Experimental Wing for Maximized Efficiency
An experimental, high-aspect ratio wing, designed to reduce weight and maximize structural and fuel efficiency, underwent structural tests at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center’s Flight Loads Laboratory. The 39-foot-long Passive Aeroelastic Tailored wing could one day lead to longer, thinner wings for aircraft. The tests also gave engineers valuable insight into ways to test highly flexible, high aspect ratio wings.
