[Avionics Today May 28, 2014] The U.S. Air Force RQ-4 GLobal Hawk Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) set a new record, flying 665 mission hours in one week, Northrop Grumman has confirmed.
According to the aerospace and defense manufacturer, the record was achieved while flying operational and exercise missions in late February. The 665 hour-mark is a 53 percent jump from the Global Hawk's weekly average of 433.8 hours per week for 2013, the company said.
Currently the U.S. Air Force has 32 Global Hawks in service worldwide.
