New Sustainment Deal Moves F-35 Within 16.7% Of 2025 Goal

A contract award puts the Lockheed Martin F-35A on track to reduce cost per flight hour (CPFH) to $30,000 by 2023, still $5,000 short of the U.S. Air Force’s sustainment cost goal for 2025, a U.S. government office said on Sept. 13. The F-35A CPFH will decline by $3,600, or 10%, from 2020 to 2023.
