Singapore Airshow Set To Open Tuesday
|
The 2018 edition of the Singapore Airshow opens Tuesday, with
some new features, and a variety of associated forums and conferences. “We
have just over 1,000 exhibitors, and we expect over 250 official
delegations,” said Leck Chet Lam, managing director of Experia, the company
that organizes the show. He told AIN
that representatives from the top 70 global aerospace companies will be there.
Some 50,000 visitors are expected on each of the four trade days, Tuesday
through Friday. The show is open to the public on the weekend.
The Republic of Singapore Air
Force (RSAF) is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, and the president of
Singapore will officially launch the year-long campaign at the airshow on
Wednesday by unveiling a Boeing F-15SG Strike Eagle with special livery. As
for flying, the RSAF has developed a novel display that combines an F-15SG
with a pair of Lockheed Martin F-16Cs.
Another highlight of the daily
flying display will be the Korean air force “Black Eagles” aerobatic team
with its eight KAI T-50 jet trainers. There will be solo displays by a Thai
air force Saab Gripen, a Malaysian air force Sukhoi Su-30, and a USAF Lockheed
Martin F-16C.
