More Boeing 787 Dreamliner Problems Reported

All Nippon Airways (ANA) reported the third incident of an airline operating Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner this week, as the Japanese carrier canceled a flight Wednesday after discovering an error message related to the aircraft’s braking system.

An ANA spokeswoman said the exact nature of the error message has not yet been discovered.

On Tuesday, Japan Airlines (JAL) canceled a 787 flight in Boston because of a reported fuel leak. That was the second incident regarding a JAL Dreamliner this week, after a fire broke out on the airline’s 787 that landed at Boston’s Logan International Airport on Monday.

Boeing issued a statement regarding the fire that broke out Monday, stating the incident was unrelated to any “previous 787 power system events,” referring to a string of incidents involving Dreamliners in 2012.

On Wednesday, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker downplayed the recent reported problems with the Dreamliner. Qatar Airways is one of the largest Boeing customers with an order placed for up to 60 Dreamliners.

"Of course there will be teething problems from time to time, but this is foreseen with any new aircraft program," said al-Baker during a press conference Wednesday.
