European Civil RPAS Market Continues to Grow

The European civil RPAS market is continuing to grow, as is witnessed by the fact that there are now over 1400 certificated RPAS operators in Europe. In this context, the European Commission has commissioned a study of third party liability and insurance requirements for RPAS with the purpose of contributing to the development of insurance regulation, and to support the development of appropriate and competitive insurance offerings.
Within this framework, the European Commission organised a hearing on RPAS Liability & Insurance in Brussels, Belgium on 5 March 2014.
The objective of this hearing was to permit to relevant stakeholders (RPAS operators & manufacturers, RPAS operator associations, insurers & brokers, government authorities, regulators) to express their views on the current RPAS insurance market, third party liability requirements, and third party liability regimes in Europe.
At this hearing UVS International had been invited to give a presentation, which set the scene by supplying, country-by-country, an overview of the status of RPAS regulation & certification in Europe (European Union & non-European Union).
