As part of Airbus’ plan to demonstrate autonomous taxi, takeoff and landing (ATTOL) of an airliner in 2020, Silicon Valley outpost A3 is developing computer vision and machine learning to enable the aircraft to navigate like a human pilot. A3’s Wayfinder autonomy project is collaborating with the ATTOL program, under which Airbus will equip a test aircraft with sensors, computers and actuators to enable autonomous operation.
