Two Killed, 14 Injured In Skydive Caravan Crash
Two people were killed and 14 others injured in the crash landing of a Cessna Caravan skydiving plane in Brazil on Wednesday. The Skydive4Fun aircraft took off from the National Skydive Center in Boituva which is considered the “national skydive capital” of Brazil and apparently made an immediate forced landing. “In Boituva’s 50 years of skydiving history, it’s the first aircraft accident at the National Skydiving Center. It’s a very sad day,” Boituva Mayor Edson Marcusso told local media.

A Cessna 208 Supervan 900 operating on a skydiving flight crashed in a field near the Boituva-Centro Nacional de Páraquedismo Airfield in Brazil, coming to rest inverted next to a transmission tower. Two occupants died of their injuries sustained in the accident. The number of occupants is unclear as Brazilian media report conflicting numbers: 11, 12 or 16. The latest count reported by the firefighting organisation is 11.
Preliminary information suggests that the aircraft hit a transmission tower. Powerlines are located at about 1400 m past the end of the airstrip.
