Tucson Jet Rally lands in Marana next week

The Tucson Jet Rally next week featuring radio-controlled, turbine-powered electric jets is expected to attract aeronautics aficionados from across the country.

The three-day rally March 13-15 will feature planes that measure up to 6 feet and can cost $15,000 to $20,000. Many are scale models of military aircraft. Spectators can sign up for a behind-the-scenes tour.

The rally runs from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days at Tucson International Modelplex Park, 3250 N. Reservation Road, west of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Marana.

Cost is $5 per vehicle for spectators. There's a $40 registration fee to fly.
